Mobility aid categories
Walking aids
Sticks, crutches, walking frames, rollators, and tri-walkers can be a good fit if you walk but need extra stability or want to save energy on longer trips.
Wheelchairs
Manual and powered wheelchairs can help if walking is not reliable for distance, pain, fatigue, or balance. The right chair depends on your space, transport, and who will push (if anyone).
Centaur Wheelchair – Two wheeled Segaway-like chair
Mobility scooters
Scooters vary a lot by size and handling. If you’re planning to use a scooter with taxis or public transport, folded size and lifting weight matter as much as range.
Home access
Small changes can remove big barriers: rails, ramps, threshold solutions, and safe ways to manage stairs.
Stairlifts
If stairs are the main barrier in your home, a stairlift can be one of the most direct ways to make upstairs rooms usable again. These pages cover the basics and common questions.
