According to it’s website, Disability Equality North West’s main aim is to “further the human rights of disabled people across the North West” and they work to achieve this by proving a number of user-led services, including advice and information, hate crime reporting, and peer support.
As a Disabled People’s Organisation supporting more than 5,500 disabled people every year, it’s not surprising that Chief Executive Melanie Close is a very busy person. However, we’re happy to be able to share in their 20th anniversary celebrations. Here’s a few snaps and Melanie’s thoughts of the day:
“The party was great, over 70 disabled people attended and enjoyed live music, a DJ, poet, cakes, food, balloons and room decorations. We were very lucky to only have had to pay for the room hire and food – the rest was donated for free by our supporters. It was lovely to be able to celebrate 20 years of supporting local disabled people, without using any of the funds reserved for delivering services. Here’s to the next 20!”
